Summary: Target Practice 2010-09-03
Comment: We purchased this printer/copier/scanner from Frys 4 months ago. We were very excited to get it, as we had wanted a color multi-use printer/ocpier/scanner for a very long time. After much research, we finally were able to buy this one. This thing has been nothing but trouble. We have had problems with the drums, the ink cartridges, paper jams, etc. The few times it worked right it was great...but now, we can't even take it back for a refund or exchange because the store only offers a 30 day warranty, and Brothers isn't going to work with us. This unit is good for nothing except targeet practice. Don't buy this one.

Summary: almost perfect 2010-08-15
Comment: Works exactly as advertised. The only downside is the long energy star warm-up. Great bullet proof software. The perfect cure for HP frustration blues.

Summary: NOT All-in-one !!! WHERE IS THE FAX ??? 2010-07-20
Comment: This a total scam... any printer that is advertised as being "All-in-one" must include a Fax function, but this printer does not have it! BEWARE deceptive title! SHAME ON YOU brother, for claiming this is all-in-one even though it lacks Fax!

Summary: Good Value, Easy to Set Up 2010-07-02
Comment: I've only been using this printer for a few days, so I might amend this review later. I'm giving it 4 stars for now, because it was good value for money and very easy to set up.

It's not perfect by any means. Compared to my last color laser printer, this one has a VERY flimsy paper output catcher. And the envelope feeder is, well, pretty much unusable as far as I can see. I tried it about 6 times using a standard envelope and every time it returned a "paper jam" error message even before it tried to pull the envelope in. Open the top of the machine, pull out and reinsert each of the 4 drums, try again, it works the next time. Fortunately I hardly ever print envelopes, so not a major factor for me, I was just testing the functions out. But the flatbed scanner/copier makes it worthwhile for me and I was able to move my old standalone flatbed out of my office.

I've noted the other comments about toner usage, but I can't comment on that yet. I've used many other color laser printers and they have all been very expensive on toner and supplies. It does have a setting to use less toner.

Summary: This laser printer eats ink cartridges 2010-06-11
Comment: People always say that laser printers use less ink than InkJet printers and are more economical. The cartridges are rated 1400 pages (color) and 2200 pages (B&W), but that seems to me to be a complete fabrication. Despite the fact that I use email and scan as much as possible, have a 1-person office, and am acutely aware of not wasting trees and ink, I have had to buy a new cartridge at least once a month. The ink cartridges cost up to $85 each. I didn't have much choice because I have a MAC, but I certainly recommend considering the cost of ink cartridges and looking at other printers.
