The specs are great and we got it for a reasonable price originally (in 2008). It performed perfectly for about the first 8-9 months. Luckily we had an extra long warranty for what was to come. After those 9 months, we changed the printer approximately 5 times, that is not an exaggeration. Every single time we got a new printer, within 4 months we had to change it again for a new one through the warranty. Issues included jamming of envelopes, large black splotches on pages printed, unreadable print quality, jamming of paper, bad connectivity with computer... We did not abuse the printer or do anything to cause these issues. It was used normally in a small business. Our warranty has finally run out and we have just put up with the last issue of the "printing" dialogue not disappearing from the printer even after it has finished printing a job (we have to press cancel every time on the printer in order to begin the next job).

I've only had our printer for a couple of months now so, after reading some of the other reviews, I'm a bit leery that this thing will suddenly start acting up at some unknown point in the future. However, as of this time, it's been working without a glitch (with the exception of an occasional paper jam, usually when duplexing.) It's MUCH faster than my old HP mutli laser but the HP was at least 10 years old so it's not a fair comparison. (In fact, the old HP was still working very well with the exception that you had to feed the sheets one page at a time. Annoying as that was, the only reason I replaced the HP was because it was no longer supported by any recent version of Windows.) As another reviewer mentioned, working the front panel controls can be tedious. I was spoiled by my simpler HP, where a touch of a single button allowed me to do nearly everything I needed. I have had one of these in my small office and go through about 3000 pages a month. Every function, even the feeder, works like a champ. This has been a real work horse. And I know, over the last 14 years I have gone through all brands. This is the only one that still works as well today as when I first bought it.
