It jammed paper more in the first month than my previous HP had in seven years. It frequently loses communication with the computer, which requires re-installation to get it do anything but copy. Often, I get a message that one of the printer cartridges is "incorrect" even when I have a genuine Dell cartridge in it with plenty of ink. Then, you need to unplug the printer for ten minutes or so and replace the cartridge with a new one, and even then, sometimes the new cartridge won't work. This makes ink very expensive, although Dell has replaced the new cartridges that wouldn't work. As soon as I use up all the cartridges on hand (and it seems that that won't take long), I will replace this printer with any other brand but Lexmark, which makes these printers for Dell. The hardware does still work after five years, but the software and cartridge circuitry sure need help. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Dell 962 All-in-one Print/Scan/Copy/Fax I have owned this model of printer since 2005. It is a 4-function printer (copy, fax, print, and scan). It has never given me any problems. The software was easy to install, the equipment was easy to connect, and it does not overuse ink (uses one black and one color cartridge). Faxes are received and sent with ease, anything that I scan is clear and the colors are correct, the paper tray is perfectly situated so that the paper lays flat and does not get pulled in crookedly (as what happens with some printer models where the paper stands vertically). I like the copy feature too, as I always need to keep a copy of something for my records. The previous review sounds like the equipment was unfortunately a lemon to start with, which can happen with anything that's manufactured. However, a true representation of the printer is that it is a very good printer. 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Cosmic Kid (Bottineau, ND United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dell 962 All-in-one Print/Scan/Copy/Fax I was given this printer when I started my new job. Luckily I don't have to buy ink for it myself, or I'd be pulling my hair out in frustration. After printing a few hundred pages adequately, it now decides every sheet it pulls is a paper jam, and refuses to print almost everything. I'd smash it to bits and set it on fire if it wasn't company property. As it is, I'll probably just request a new one. |
