Before you read any further, note the price. If you were to buy any printer/scanner in this range expecting a workhorse or to make archival prints, you would clearly be delusional.

I needed something to put on my desktop for light everyday printing and the NX130 seemed like it would fit the bill. It installed exactly as directed, with one hangup: the installation instructions call for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion users to go to the website rather than use the disc. They should have instructed 10.6 Snow Leopard users to do this as well, as the CD installer has an outdated and non-functional driver. Once I had downloaded and installed the most recent package from Epson, the printer worked as well as I expected. It prints a black and white page in about 30 seconds; color takes about 2 minutes. Color is fairly accurate, but this is clearly not a proof-quality device. I've only used the scanner a couple of times, but was pleasantly surprised by the scan quality. It's a little...Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars This is a very cheap printer for light printing duties., January 8, 2012

I bought this printer on sale at Fry's for about $30 bucks namely to print envelopes and rebate forms for all the other crap I buy at Fry's. This printer is what it is. If you only print a few pages here and there, envelopes, or need to do some simple scanning then it works fine. It seems like the above posters missed the concept of "you get what you pay for". If you're expecting any $30 printer to print 50 pages a day, you will be severely dissapointed.

I bought this all-in-one printer because my Visoneer scanner gave up the ghost. The scanner function is fast and has excellent resolution. The unit was only $19 at Fry's versus +$60 for a stand-alone flatbed scanner.
The cartridges are similar to the ones in my R200 printers (I have two), and will print about the same number of pages.
I have been purchasing generic cartridges for years for my R200s for around $8 each. These are not remanufactured, they are brand new, just generics.
If you purchase this as a printer only, be sure and read the specs. It is slow, slow, slow. They rate it at 3.0 ppm max, which means it will print 1-1.5 ppm in the real world.
If you need a printer with faster output and cheaper consumables, consider a Brother laser printer. 24 ppm, around $60, 2500 pages per cartridge, and replacement cartridges are only about $25 for the generics. Ink jet printers are notorious for being expensive to operate.
I may never use this as a...Read more
