Epson Stylus NX215 Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer (C11CA47231)

Comment: I got this printer as part of a PC package. Printer lasted as long as the warranty, after which the paper feed gear started loosing teeth, the printer thought it was printing and sprayed ink all over the inside, and made a mess on my desk.
My recomendation; Don't waste your money on this, all these are good for is target practice at the range.

Comment: When starting to pull paper into printer its noisey, after that it does a great job.

Comment: Having tried all printing options at my disposal on the printer, prints are faded with a slightly red color bias to lighter shades of all colors except greens, which are the most faded, having been neutralized by the troublesome red bias. The very first prints from our old RX 500, were absolutely magnificent--rich and true colors exactly matching the images from files and/or CD's. My disappointment with this printer cannot really be described.

Alignment and cleaning directions have been applied without success for acceptable prints.

Prints are, however, crisp and sharply focused.

Printing texts, i.e., letters, documents, records, etc., are completely satisfactory. Faulty coloring is the only concern here.

For years I have made my own greeting cards with Epson(2) printers until age and heavy use indicated replacement. Recipents have marveled at their quality, some even thinking they were done commercially. If necessary, I can package this one and return it if so indicated. I will gladly apply any directions from an Epson tech. in an attempt to rectify the problem.

I have had this printer for only about 30 days.

Please advise.

Comment: If you have one computer and need a printer, this is a pretty good choice. If you have multiple computers and printers like I do on a home network, avoid this printer. Epson offers NX515 for only a few bucks more, which is a network printer and which should avoid the problems you will have with this one.

I attached this printer to a machine running Windows-XP. Installation was quite smooth. I also shared this printer on my home network and other machines running Windows-XP, and Windows Vista 32-bit could detect and use this machine without a problem. Then I bought a new computer running Windows-7 64-bit. I tried to add this as a shared printer from the network. The new computer could easily find NX215 on my network and even connect to it, but it could not be added because of driver incompatibility. I contacted Epson help-line. They said that I could not connect the printer to a 32-bit machine and share it from there to a 64-bit machine. I think this is hog-wash, because I have another printer (HP Deskjet D1560)connected to another 32-bit machine running Windows Vista, and I can print to it from my new Windows-7 64-bit machine with no problems. The two printers are in exactly the same situation, but one works one does not. I even downloaded the 64-bit driver from the Epson support. It did not work. (At least the tech support was right about that!)

Comment: I love this printer. After years of using Lexmark, I finally made the jump to Epson. I love that the inks are individually replaceable, and less costly than others. This printer isn't the fastest one in the very impressive Epson line-up, but it serves my needs. It's a little noisy, but the print quality and easy set-up more than makes up for it. My item was shipped in record time, and was sent with two sets of ink. Not sure if it was a packaging error, but I'm certainly not complaining at receiving free ink. I highly recommend this printer to those seeking an easy to use, quality machine, that don't have a high demand for speedy printing.
