Product Review

It's hard to beat the convenience of a single machine that combines fax, printer, scanner, and copier, and you'll find them all in Hewlett Packard's PSC950xi. It handles both photos and office documents equally well as a printer, offering 600 dpi in monochrome and 600 x 1,200 dpi for colorful graphics. You'll get the same crisp resolution when copying, where you can create up to 50 duplicates from a single original, and reduce or enlarge with a range of 25-300 percent. With a 60-page fax memory, you're less likely to lose important documents, even if you run out of paper. The simple USB connection lets you have these new toys up and running in no time. Included are two ink cartridges, all necessary drivers and documentation, phone and power cords, and a one-year warranty on parts and service.

HP has done it again. The 950 is just what I needed to replace the scanner and photoprinter in my cramped computer room. Plus I get a fax machine and a memory card reader in the deal. Setup was easy enough. I have not had time to figure out all the features of this printer. One feature I really like is the ability to print a proof sheet fro ma memory card and then you can color in the dots under the pictures you want printed. Place the proof sheet on the scanner, scan it and it prints only the selected photos. The only thing I wish it had was a sheet feeder to make sending multipage faxes easier. I don't send many faxes so it's not a big deal.

This HP PSC950 "all in one" was a VERY cheap solution to my small home office needs, but after 3 years, I am ready for another brand. Spent way more on INKS than I did for the purchase of the machine. Scanner quality was never that good & now I am getting scanner failure messages. Faxing is okay, if you power up from a cold start. Copy function won't work half the time, cuz it's busy 'warming up'. Fed up now... seeking something new & dependable.

I loved this all-in-one for the year that it worked. It printed great, scanned fast, and faxed nicely. After about 13 months it started getting scanner failure errors and would scan anything. The 950xi just kept saying it was warming up but nothing would ever happen. I contacted HP support and there only answer to this problem was to reset the unit every time I wanted to scan or fax. Resetting it worked some of the time but then that stopped working and now I have a multifunction printer that prints only. I did research on the net and found that this is a common problem with the scanner bulb and to get it fixed it would be around $200. I would rather spend another $100 and get a new cannon malfunction printer.
