I saw the commercials for this printer that saved money on ink. What a laugh! The color cartridges don't last nearly half as long as my trusty old HP photo printer!
My Kodak printer is 7 months old and nothing but trouble. It is loud, noisy and now requires hours of maintenance to keep the color printing. The quality of the printing and quality of color on regular paper is marginal. I've been online with customer service lots! If you have unlimited time to tinker with a tempermental printer--this is the one. I'm going back to my 7 year old and not a lick of trouble, ultra reliable HP. This taught me a valuable lesson. Kodak may make good cameras, but stick to companies who "cut their teeth" making computer products. Don't waste your money on this printer. Ha! Printer ink turned out to be just one of many problems. For the record, the ink cartridges are (a little bit) cheaper, but they run out four times faster. You do the math. 1. The first week I had the printer in use, the printhead went bad. This was determined after an hour on the phone with tech support. (This first support person was congenial and seemed knowledgeable.) Kodak sent a new printhead. 2. The print quality was never good. No matter how many adjustments I made, following all the Kodak instructions and my own common sense, the color was washed out and the overall quality was more like an old dot matrix. Plus, you can only load a tiny amount of paper and have to unload it each time you want to close up the print tray. Very annoying. 3. This was the last straw. The printer simply stopped recognizing my computer. Or perhaps it was the other way around. This resulted in...Read more This review is from: Kodak ESP 5 All-in-One - Multifunction ( printer / copier / scanner ) - color - ink-jet - printing (up to): 30 ppm (mono) / 29 ppm (color) - 100 sheets - Hi-Speed USB, USB host (DE; FR; UK Version) (Personal Computers) This printer is a great disappointment to me. Made very cheaply and jams every 2nd sheet. I contacted Kodak and got nothing but their pat automatic answers. Can't comment on cartridge life haven't been able to get enough sheets through it to tell. Don't waste your money on this. |
