After building my latest computer I discovered that the GIGABYTE, GA-EP45-UD3P P45 775 R motherboard did not have a serial connector anymore. Rather than to mess with serial to USB conversion schemes, I decided to put my still perfectly functional Epson Stylus 760 out to pasture. After seeing the [...] reviews and the price, I got the Lexmark S305. It virtually set itself up as soon as I had power and the USB cable connected. It ran a complete self test, and was up and ready for more, before I even loaded the included CD. It's fast, ready to go in seconds, after I hit the power switch, and for my limited printing and scanning needs, it is perfect. I never use printers to reproduce photos, there are better and more professional ways to do that. I noticed just one little oddity, that is far from a show stopper. When I switched it to B&W, it still reproduced colors that were on the original. It is fast, way faster than what it replaced. I like the fact that it can use WiFi, and I also...Read more

Better printers out there in the same price range,

Unfortunately this printer is cheaply made. Even worse, it printed fine the first day I used it, but by day two it was smearing black ink when it printed at all. (the colors were still ok) After numerous attempts to troubleshoot and clean/align the printheads, the problem remained. This printer will be sent back. It has a nice price for the functions, but I ended up buying a Brother MFC495 for only 10 dollars more. It was much easier to set up and has a more solid fit and finish. At this point the Brother has outlasted and also has outshined the Lexmark. Maybe others will have better luck with the Lexmark, but be forewarned.

This might be a great printer at a great price, however I don't know because mine arrived with a broken printhead or internal contact to printhead. Lexmark customer service is horrible. They have told me they would have a solution and call me in 2 days, then another day, now they tell me its Friday and they may ship me a new part which might fix it on Monday if they get approval. Not impressed
Update, 4 weeks after the original printer arrived I had a semiworking printer. The original fix (sending me a new printhead) was followed by a complete printer replacement.
Now having a working model my opinion of the accual device is possibly 2 stars. It needs to be constantly reset (powered off then on) as it will report a printhead problem that clears when powercycled. I also believe it is doing some kind of printhead maintainence automatically with these restarts that cause it to eat through ink at a furious pace.
Final update - Seems the printhead issue and...Read more
