I don't know why this great unit has such poor reviews here...,

This review is from: Lexmark X204N All-In-One Laser Printer (Office Product)
I wanted to get a MFP that I could share amongst 2 iMacs, 1 Macbook Pro, 1 Mac mini, and 3 Windows laptops (7 and XP Pro). I also wanted to use Airprint when it comes out (for printing from iPhones and iPads) which would likely require direct attachment to a server via USB vs. networking over wireless or ethernet. I was tired of spending 2-3 times the cost of the printer itself on ink a year so decided I was going to go laser this time around.
For all these reasons I initially started with a product that had a much better rating than the X204N, the Canon MF4350D. I won't go into the details here but suffice to say that while I found the Canon easy to install and use on a single computer getting it to share the scanner over our home network was a nightmare. After struggling in angst over the poor reviews the Lexmark X204N has here on Amazon I decided to give one a try for myself and am I glad I did.
Not much to say here other than it installed easily, works...Read more

Remember the printer from Office Space?,

This is a product that has shown me that at least if nothing else Lexmark has good customer support. We have had multiple issues with this printer. First off, it jams very easily when feeding papers. After continuing this problem for a month, I called Lexmark and they sent a replacement. The replacement had the exact same issues as the original. Clearly, its a flaw in the model and not the particular machine we had. This second machine also developed a problem with its motherboard. Lexmark sent technicians out twice to fix the problem and eventually got the problem resolved. Two weeks after they fixed that problem, the machine started ripping up papers that were being fed to it. This thing has been a disaster since day one. I would never recommend it to anyone.

Not happy with the X204n,

I had to discard the X204n after about eight months.
The feeder is flimsy; it misses pages, and sometimes the pages get stuck in it,
The printer makes good prints, but light-colored fonts are a problem even when you set the printer to "dark"
The software is unusually slow, and not user friendly.
It is so bad that I felt it is unfair to sell it to anyone, even though it is relatively new.
