Cartridge installation was tricky as it's hard to tell whether they are in or not until you close the lid and the LED panel confirms they are installed correctly. It took 3 tries for each cartridge. I ran the box through it's core function set and everything worked quite admirably, reasonably fast full color prints, acceptable text, good document feeder and fax functions. Automatic print settings yielded a mixed text and graphic document that was noticeably inferior to my old Epson R200 - but the print was still quite nice. I expect to use the box at relatively low volume and do not anticipate using it as a photo printer - good thing, too, as the photo prints on glossy photo paper were not up to par. The printer has one black cartridge and one color cartridge, which I expect in the long term will end up costing more to replace than printers with separate cartridges...Read more 18 of 19 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lexmark X6650 All-in-One Wireless Printer (Office Product) I bought this four-in-one mostly for the fax, its quietness and for its space-saving abilities. I had an old fax, printer and scanner that really needed to be replaced. My past experience with Lexmark printers had been positive, so I decided to give this one a try. I set it up in no time with no problems. I am planning on using it in starting my own canine acupressure business, and I think this machine is going to work out great! It may not meet the standards of those who are looking for something that prints perfect photos, but it is still a good mid-range all-around machine. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Lexmark X6650 All-in-One Wireless Printer (Office Product) I just bought this all-in-one for my home office. My last AiO was also a Lexmark, the x85, which my father-in-law gave us. It wasn't new, but worked well until last week. Also Lexmark hadn't updated the drivers for Mac OS X in several years. I had none of the problems I see the Windows users seem to be having with the WiFi setup. I saw my network in the browser list, and choose it, and typed in my password. The whole network setup took about 5 minutes. After it was set up, my Wife's iMac and MacBook both found the printer automatically after I had installed the drivers. So those issues must be with Vista (no surprise), and not Lexmark. After reading a few reviews about poor color copy quality and so-so color printing, I was pleased to see the quality was actually very good. Text is a bit soft when printed using the "Automatic" setting, but it's not awful either. I copied a few items to see how well it did, and it was quite acceptable. Sitting both...Read more |
