Very little assembly is required before you can start using your machine, but the phone does need to be charged for four hours before initial use. On the handset are the controls for the answering machine, plus a programming button for storing up to 10 numbers.
For devotees of Caller ID, this fax will display the caller's name across the digital screen (you must subscribe to Caller ID through your local phone company to use this feature). Also, after 35 calls, the machine automatically prints out a list of calls received. If you are using this unit both as your main phone and fax, you can set the answering mode so the machine can tell the difference between a phone call and a fax call, and route it to the right place. You can send 15 pages at a time through the fax. If the number is busy it will redial up to two times. For your most frequently faxed numbers, you can program up to six into the machine and use the unique "jog dial" directory to rotate to the desired name.
This machine is the perfect solution if you need to make fewer than 99 copies. It can collate and reduce or enlarge as needed. There are also four resolution choices: standard, fine, super-fine, and halftone. Included with the unit is a very clear and thorough instruction guide. If you need help with your fax, the customer assistance number is printed right on the machine. --Dana Van Nest

It's got a 900 Mhz cordless phone, answering machine, a plain paper fax and its compact. Not to mention the cost effectiveness of the product. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Panasonic KX-FPC141 Plain Paper Fax with Cordless 900MHz Phone and TAD (Office Product) I looked around thoroughly before settling on this one. The most critical feature for me was the ability to automatically separate fax from phone calls without human involvement (there are plenty of machines that can do this) and serve as an answering machine. I also wanted plain paper and relatively high quality faxes. That is has a cordless phone is a bonus but the fax from handset is a bit bizarre -- how far away from the fax could you be that you can't push 'start' or 'receive'. The speakerphone is good enough to listen in on conference calls or to dial hands free, but it is only C+ quality for the poor people listening on the other end. There are many other features (internet faxing for inexpensive bulk faxes) that ambitous small businesses may find useful, and I will never use. In the end it was a decision between buying this versus those swiss-army-knife-like 5-in-1 units. I had used the inkjet versions and been completely frustrated by the poor construction...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer This review is from: Panasonic KX-FPC141 Plain Paper Fax with Cordless 900MHz Phone and TAD (Office Product) This machine is easy to use and has a good quality cordless phone. The quality of the little computer chip which records the incoming messages is not good, however, and many times messages are totally indecipherable. Tapes are far better than chips. My main beef with this machine which drives me crazy is that you cannot delete faxes from the memory. So if someone sends you an unwanted 20 page fax while you're out - even when there is no paper in the tray - it gets stored in the memory and the only way you can get it out of the memory is to print it. Turning the machine off does delete it. You can waste a [money amount]cartridge just clearing the memory of your machine. Cartridges are [spendy] and print surprisingly few pages. |
