Sent the ol' InkJet out to Pasture,

Every six months I was buying $40-$80 worth of ink for our old InkJet printer. It was getting old. Fast.
My wife finds all sorts of online coupons and deals which often need to be printed. If you are familiar with printing coupons, you know many websites circumvent the printers options and print out in full color, wasting as much ink as possible along the way. I decided it would be best to get a low-cost laser printer so we could save some money on ink costs.
After much research, I stumbled upon the Panasonic Multi-Function Printer. What caught my eye first off was price. It was well south of $200 AND it offered scanning and copying capabilities. This seemed too good to be true. I looked up some reviews and watched a couple of product demos and decided to take the plunge. I ordered it via Amazon Prime and received it in two business days.
So far, the positives have been how quickly it prints, being able to network the printer (meaning I can print...Read more

Firewall settings,

I am an IT technician so worked this out myself as the Panasonic literature is appalling as is the support offered on their UK and US site.
First you must setup a static IP. To do this I logged into my router, accessed the LAN page and clicked the printer. I then had the option to select 'always use this IP'. Next I entered the IP of the printer into my web browser to access the setup page. Click Network configuration and enter the default login details below, then select LAN Feature and disable DHCP and Auto IP. In the IP Address box make sure the IP address you setup in the router is entered, click Submit. You should now be set to static IP.
The default online login details were hard to find!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Feels Sturdy, attractive matte black finish looks quality and will stay that way. Buttons are laid out well and simple to use. Menus are straightforward. Separate toner drum might be less $$ for consumables over time, less waste. Manual by-pass. Stop button ACTUALLY cancels printing.
Wreaks havoc with firewall. Toner doesn't fuse well. Support is nearly non-existent. Somewhat large footprint compared to others. Manual by-bass is not reliable. Illumination is too bright at night on buttons and display has none. Every single day at 12:00 noon the printer has a "cycle."
Major difficulty getting the scanner to work over the network. Flawless on one Windows 7 laptop. Completely non-functional on another. Windows 7 firewall may be to blame, but there is ZERO documentation from Panasonic as to which programs and ports require access. The software has half a dozen executables which get installed and run. They are located in as many directories...Read more
