The SCX-4200 digital productivity center is an affordable black and white laser printer that offers three in one true multifunction performance with professional laser quality output. Just as I was buying this printer I started a new career as a Print Management Specialist dealing with controlling print costs for office laser printers. So I get to see a lot of printers now. This product had rave reviews on Amazon and very few negative reviews. I thought it was a good buy at $130 but I've only had the printer for a couple months and have printed a total of 150 pages. The machine has jammed several times while we were trying to print from the computer. Now the machine has developed loud squeaking, I'm assuming it is the feed rollers or something. This is not a good sign. Also the paper has always come out with undesirable waves in it from passing through the printer. It is a clearly symmetrical wavy pattern on the page but undesirable if you're quality conscious at all. Sincerely I wished all the good reviews were going to be my experience but now I wish I had waited until I knew a little more. I bought this printer after Vista wouldn't support my old HP 1012. I am extremely pleased: contrary to the norm in managing new hardware, it worked precisely as advertised and exceeded my expectations.

Strengths:
(1) very, very reasonable price
(2) quiet, efficient printing (for home office use)
(3) small footprint
(4) efficient copying and scanning
(5) reasonable power usage
(6) quiet standby operation

I bought this printer largely because of its Consumer Reports rating, and have not been disappointed.It was easy to install on my e-mac, print quality is very good, and the small tidy footprint lets me keep it on the bottom shelf of my little el cheapo computer table, without bother. It sends the printed sheets out the front-very handy. This is the nicest home printer I've had-I recommend it enthusiastically, and hope that it will prove as durable as it is convenient.
